This page explains what data this site collects, how it uses cookies, and how you can control your choices. We have written it in plain language on purpose — please contact us if anything is unclear.
What we collect
Word Unscrambler is a tool, not a service. We do not require an account and we do not log the letters you search for. We do not store any personally identifiable information about you on our servers.
The only data we hold is the dictionary word list (loaded from a public-domain English word list) and an in-memory cache of definitions fetched from dictionaryapi.dev. Definitions are fetched on demand and keyed by word — they are not tied to your identity.
Cookies we use
A cookie is a small text file your browser stores so a site can recognise you on future visits. We use the following cookies:

Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
AdSense is not loaded until you consent on the cookie banner. If you reject ads, we never load the AdSense script, so no advertising cookies are placed by this site.

Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits. Analytics is not loaded until you consent on the cookie banner. Analytics data is anonymous and aggregated.
Your consent choices
The first time you visit the site, a banner at the bottom of the
page asks you to Accept, Reject, or Customise cookies. Your
choice is stored in a cookie called wu:consent:v1
and remembered for one year. You can change your choice at any
time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer.
With "Customise" you can toggle two categories independently:
- Advertising — required to load AdSense.
- Analytics — required to load Google Analytics.
California residents can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.
GDPR — your legal rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right to access, correct, delete, and restrict the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, most of these rights apply to the third-party processors we use (Google). To exercise your rights, you can:

Third-party services
Word definitions are fetched on demand from dictionaryapi.dev. Their privacy policy applies to those requests.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect when it was last changed. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
