What Is the Wordle Solver?

Wordle is a daily word puzzle where you guess a hidden 5-letter word in six tries. After each guess, the game highlights letters in green (correct position) and yellow (wrong position, right letter). Our Wordle solver takes those clues and searches a dictionary of over 370,000 English words to find every 5-letter word that fits. It works the same way as the full word unscrambler, but focused on the letters you already know from Wordle's feedback.

Unlike simple word lists, the solver also shows definitions for every result — so if a word is unfamiliar, you can check its meaning before you commit it as your next guess.

How to Use This Wordle Solver

1. Enter your known letters. Type the letters you have confirmed from Wordle — green letters, yellow letters, or any combination. The solver finds every English word you can make from those letters.
2. Use the filters. If you know a letter starts the word (green in the first position), use the "Starts with" filter. If a yellow letter belongs somewhere in the middle, use the "Contains" filter. Combine multiple filters to narrow results down further.
3. Browse the results. Words are grouped by length. Focus on the 5-letter group for Wordle answers. Click any word to see its definition, part of speech, and synonyms.
4. Make your next guess. Pick a word from the results and enter it in Wordle. If you still have guesses left, come back with your new green and yellow letters to narrow the list further.

Best Wordle Starting Words

The best starting words contain common vowels and consonants that eliminate the most possibilities. Statistically, these openers give you the most information on the first guess:

• CRANE — covers C, R, A, N, E (two vowels, three common consonants)
• SLATE — covers S, L, A, T, E (two vowels, three common consonants)
• ARISE — covers A, R, I, S, E (three vowels, two common consonants)
• TRACE — covers T, R, A, C, E (two vowels, three common consonants)
• ADIEU — covers A, D, I, E, U (four vowels — great for ruling out vowel positions)

After your first guess, use the green and yellow feedback to narrow the field. If your opener was CRANE and you got green on A and E, enter AE with the "Contains" filter to find every 5-letter word containing both A and E.

Wordle Strategy Tips

• Maximize letter coverage early. Your first two guesses should aim to test 10 different letters. Avoid repeating letters until you have to.
• Pay attention to yellow positions. A yellow letter means it is in the word, but not in that position. Use the "Starts with" and "Ends with" filters to place it correctly.
• Eliminate, don't confirm. Each guess should rule out as many letters as possible. Even a guess with no green or yellow letters is valuable — it tells you those five letters are not in the answer.
• Use the solver as a learning tool. Don't just find the answer — click through to definitions and build your vocabulary for future puzzles.
• Common Wordle patterns. The most common word endings in Wordle are -IGHT, -OUND, -ATCH, -EASE, and -OUSE. If you have a partial word, try the "Ends with" filter with these common suffixes.

Understanding Wordle Letter Patterns

English has predictable letter distributions that can guide your guesses. The most common letters in Wordle answers are E, A, R, O, T, L, I, S, and N. The least common are J, Q, X, and Z. Words with double letters (like SLOOP or FERRY) are less common but can trip you up if you don't consider them. When you are down to your last guess and have two possibilities, consider which one uses more common letters — it is usually the safer bet.
